St. Augustine Nights of Lights

  • St. Augustine, FL United States (map)

Here is a holiday destination that doesn't require snow boots or flannels!  From Nov 15–Jan 11, St. Augustine’s historic core turns into a seaside glow-up—balconies draped in white lights, palm fronds twinkling, and the bayfront shimmering like a string of pearls. Start with Light-Up! Night on Nov 15, then slow your pace and wander the 20+ illuminated blocks on foot—this one rewards lingering.

Where to roam: begin at the Plaza de la Constitución, meander down St. George Street and Avilés for courtyards and balconies, then drift to the bayfront for Bridge of Lions views and reflections on the water. For a different angle, book a narrated trolley or hop on a night boat cruise for the skyline in full sparkle. Want a quiet moment? Slip to the Castillo lawn and watch the lights waltz across Matanzas Bay.

Pro tips: visit midweek, aim for blue hour (just after sunset) or after 9pm for lighter crowds, and wear comfy shoes—coquina shells and old sidewalks add charm and extra steps. Families: it’s stroller-friendly with plenty fun stops. Foodies: tuck into a cozy bistro off the main drag, then circle back for a last lap under the palms.
