Uncovering Clarkesville from the lens of a single person

Does the appeal of a small town pull at your heartstrings, but you wonder if you would find people like you? Single, full of adventure, ambitious but longing for a work-life balance that leaves room for a lot of fun?

A Busy Downtown Scene

Downtown Clarkesville is a hub of activity and culture. Boasting an growing array of casual eateries and galleries, it's a perfect spot for meeting friends and sharing interests and this is one thing we always look for when considering how it would feel to be new in town. We think the town really needs a coffee shop on the main drag but the recent addition of a chic bourbon and cigar bar brings a new flavor of sophistication and socializing to the town.

The Clarkesville Main Street program adds to the vibrancy with events such as this year’s Founder's Ball and a history harvest, offering unique opportunities to mingle and immerse yourself in the town's friendly culture and get to know the people here. We see the opportunities continuing to increase in this town.

We also like that the little hamlet of Demorest is literally 3 miles to the south. It is a small little corner of gathering to offer some variety - along with the many activities shared with the public by Piedmont University.

Community Involvement

Clarkesville thrives on its strong sense of community. The Clarkesville Parks & Recreation department offers a plethora of volunteer opportunities. Whether your interest lies in environmental initiatives, sports, or local events, there's a place for you to make a difference and connect with like-minded individuals. If you don’t find your people there, Habersham County Community Service Organizations, including the Clarkesville Lions Club, provide ample opportunities for involvement and socializing. The Lion’s Club meets once a month at the North Georgia Technical College campus, just north of town.

Active Lifestyle and Social Gatherings

If you are not one to join singles organizations, jumping into the groups that are active in the abundant outdoor opportunities should keep you busy and underneath the sun and the stars.

Pursuing Personal Interests

Clarkesville is exceptionally warm and inviting. If you have interests that are not represented by a group or location - it may be time to start one. The population here is well educated and seeking a lifestyle of community and connection and you may find more friends than you can imagine.

As of the 2023 Census update, appoximately 56% of the population, aged 15 and older, were single - so dig in to our numbers at the bottom of our Clarkesville page to find out more about who lives here.
