We know that in todays world with remote work and online businesses - fiber is king & broadband essential. Staunton and the surrounding, according to the FCC National Broadband Map, has 100% coverage for fixed-broadband with 100% of the area at download speeds of at least 100 mbps (1). There are a few areas near Reddish Knob and deep in the George Washington National Forest that appear to be the exceptions. As of June 2023, 50% of urban areas had access to fiber with speeds of 1,000 mbps.

  • Xfinity offers cable internet in Peterborough with maximum download speeds up to 1.2 Gbps (gigabits per second)

  • Fidium Fiber advertises availability of 2-gigabit fiber internet speeds in Peterborough.

  • The median download speed in Staunton is 270.16 (megabits per second), which is faster than the Virginia median of 237.58 Mbps and the national average of 133 Mbps. (2)

We are also big fans of Starlink. As we travel we are hearing people who live in remarkably remote locations feeling like they are plugged in like never before using Starlink so we always include that as an option.
