After the hurricane: Damascus and the Virginia Creeper Trail
Resources to donate to and ways to help after Hurricane Helene
10.1.2024
Damascus and the Virginia Creeper Trail were hit very hard by Hurricane Helene and the trail not rideable at all. Many of the trestles are gone, and debris and mud are covering the length of the trail. So many who lived in this area are without homes, not to mention power, water or internet and communication.
The town of Damascus and so many who love the trail are working to get this town back up as it is the economic lifeblood of this town. Check back as we will be posting updates and celebrating when the Creeper is up and running again.
If you are looking to physically help - connect with @greencovecollective and @virginiacreepertrail to get guidance on needs and coordination.
We are trying to collect information on how you can help from afar, and who are the best organizations to contribute to for the help to get directly to Damascus.
These are some of the organizations that have been identified by the people living in Damascus and in the region.
